Greetings! I wanted to share a brief post about my writing plans for this summer. I mentioned in last week’s post that I’ve begun working with writing coach Katelin Cummins to prepare an outline for a middle-grade fantasy novel.
I already have a publisher who is potentially interested in the premise of my book! (At any rate, they welcomed me to submit my manuscript once it’s complete.)
The world of my novel is inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth as well as the legends of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. I hope to put my own personal spin on the classic fantasy story and give readers something that will surprise them.
I’ve never written a novel before. I’ve dreamt about writing one for years, but have always been daunted by the size of such a project. With Katelin’s help, and with the support of the other members of our accountability group, I hope to have a completed outline by the end of this month or early June at the latest.
I’ve also received invaluable help and encouragement from the members of the SFF critique group on the Catholic Writer’s Guild members’ forum.
Once I begin writing this novel in earnest, I want to share my daily progress here on Substack as an exclusive reward for paid subscribers. Paid-tier subscribers will also receive access to some really cool behind-the-scenes material like plot summaries and lore documents!
My first exclusive post will be a reveal of the preliminary title of my book! Be on the watch for that early next week.
This summer is going to be an extremely busy and fun time in my writing life! Besides working on this fantasy novel, I’ll be composing regular essays for three websites and doing research for a sequel to my middle-grade nonfiction book.
Thank you so much for your support and interest in my work!
Until we meet again, “the Road goes ever on . . .”
Super exciting news!
